Job Description

As a DevOps, you will own deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and performance optimization to ensure reliable, secure releases across environments. You’ll work closely with developers to troubleshoot production issues, implement automation, strengthen system observability, and support continuous improvement through scalable DevOps practices.

Employment type: Indefinite term type contract
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Colombia time), Weekends Off (schedule may shift by 30 minutes; may start at 8:30 AM)
Work setup: Work From Home, Colombia

The Qualifications We Seek
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Skills & Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of Rails application architecture and deployment best practices
  • Experience with platform-as-a-service providers (Heroku, Railway) and AWS infrastructure
  • Proficiency in GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools
  • Experience implementing and maintaining automated testing frameworks, particularly Playwright or similar tools
  • Strong knowledge of database management and optimization, especially PostgreSQL
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and inter-service communication patterns
  • Experience with application performance monitoring and optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring solutions (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, CloudWatch, Papertrail)
  • Understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline development
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration for managing microservices (preferred)
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker (preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand Ruby code to diagnose application-level issues (preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in production environments

Your Daily Tasks
Essential Duties:

  • Manage deployment pipelines and ensure smooth, reliable application releases across multiple environments
  • Maintain and update application packages and dependencies to keep the Rails application current and secure
  • Oversee server infrastructure across multiple platforms including Heroku, Railway, AWS, and Render
  • Implement and maintain GitHub Actions workflows
  • Develop and maintain Playwright testing frameworks within deployment pipelines
  • Monitor application performance and identify optimization opportunities, including n+1 query issues and API integration inefficiencies
  • Implement and maintain comprehensive server logging and monitoring solutions
  • Design and execute data ETL processes to support business operations and analytics
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide resolutions to maintain application uptime
  • Collaborate with the development team to understand application architecture and deployment requirements
  • Work with microservices architecture to ensure proper service communication and orchestration
  • Implement performance improvements based on application metrics and monitoring data
  • Conduct regular security updates and patch management for application dependencies
  • Manage database maintenance tasks including backups, migrations, and performance tuning
  • Implement and maintain application health checks and uptime monitoring
